Vice President, High Net Worth Capital

Department: Equity Investor Relations
Location: West Des Moines, IA

This position is primarily responsible for maintaining and growing Hubbell’s high net worth individual investor client base in support of commercial development project equity requirements. Commercial development projects are primarily expected to include multifamily and industrial with other property types as required. The incumbent is expected to drive investor enthusiasm through networking, investor events, and physical/digital communication media. The role will rely on and work closely with subject matter experts to assist in successfully closing equity opportunities. The successful expansion of the individual investor base (by absolute #, by check size, by geography) is critical to meeting Hubbell’s long term business objectives.

This position works closely with the Senior Vice President - Capital Formation, Vice President - Development, and Vice President - Construction Services to align equity requirements with project needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Growing Hubbell’s high net worth individual investor client base. This responsibility includes identifying target audiences, implementation of active relationship cultivation programs with the objective of raising equity capital for commercial development projects. Maintains active community, civic and industry relationships which foster awareness of the Hubbell brand.
  2. Drive investor enthusiasm through networking, investor events, and physical/digital communication media. Responsibility includes awareness campaigns which ultimately drive investor interest in investment vehicles. The successful expansion of the individual investor base (by investor count, by amount per investor, by geography) is critical to meeting Hubbell’s long-term business objectives.
  3. Responsible for supporting effective, timely launch and execution of equity offerings to individual investor audience.
  4. Support the development of investment product distribution offerings including project based, fund based, separately managed account and co-investment related strategies. Target offerings likely focus on multifamily and/or industrial property types with a Midwest geographic footprint.
  5. Works closely with Hubbell Realty Company’s Legal Department and outside legal counsel specializing in securities to understand the state and federal securities laws that govern equity raises, confidential private placement memorandums and offerings, and works with the Legal Department to ensure that Hubbell’s equity offerings meet or exceed these requirements.
  6. Works closely in a cross-functional manner with Hubbell Realty Company teams including commercial development, construction, legal, finance, marketing, and property management teams.
  7. Responsible for managing high net worth individual investor relationship management with support from Capital Formation team resources.
  8. Assists with other projects as assigned by management.

Special Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, law or related field required.

· Five years’ minimum experience in economic development, policy advocacy, real estate development, or commercial real estate sales with experience raising equity for development projects preferred, including private placement offerings and joint ventures.

· Independent self-starter with an owner’s mindset, the ability to work unsupervised, and manage a multi-pronged process with strong attention to detail and with a willingness to independently identify and close on new sources of equity.

· Experience in financial services, investment management, financial technology, and commercial real estate with a strong business acumen, an understanding of financial statements, including financial pro forma statements for development projects and for financial statements for stabilized properties.

· Strong negotiation skills and experience working with contracts.

· Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, maturity, and good judgment; must demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.

· Ability to maintain positive working relationships and interact with investors and potential investors daily.

· Must meet and exceed deadlines under pressure on a consistent basis.

· Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.

· Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

· Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.

· Ability to work independently and within team environments.

· Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently.

· Must be able to work in flexible work conditions, including early morning, evening and weekend meetings.
