Manager, Design and Architecture

Department: Homes - Design/Selection
Location: West Des Moines, IA

Position Summary

Manages and leads the Design Team in design of home plans and the creation of construction drawings for all single-family, townhome, and multi-family products built by Hubbell Homes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the production of the construction documents for all residential units being built by HH. Reviews drawings for accuracy, product specifications, and code compliance.
  • Manages the architectural design, product development, and product offerings: Plans, elevations, and design options.
  • Designs new home plans for new developments to meet market trends and the needs of HH.
  • Coordinates architectural drawings with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural Engineers.
  • Reviews building site conditions and coordinates construction drawings with Civil Engineers.
  • Works closely with Trades and the Estimating Team to achieve cost-effective and best possible solutions for each home plan.
  • Develops, coordinates, and communicates solutions to problems arising on construction sites.
  • Works closely with Land Development in the creation of new developments and plat maps to fit the needs of Hubbell Homes. Attends public meetings with Land Development as Hubbell Homes Representative for residential projects.
  • Works with City Officials to meet local regulations and development specific requirements.
  • Manages and supports residential drawing and design needs for other Hubbell Business Units: Hubbell Homes of Omaha, Origin Homes, and Embarq Signature Homes.
  • Manages and coordinates all home plan marketing content for HH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. A minimum of five years of professional experience as Project Architect or Product Design Manager. Licensed Architect or working towards Architecture License is preferred.
  • Experience working with all construction disciplines and regulatory authorities to lead a project
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, maturity, good judgment, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Revit is required. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) is preferred.
  • Experience leading a team required.
